The 1966 ABCA/Wilson Lefty Gomez Award winner, J. Kyle Anderson served as head baseball coach at the University of Chicago from 1934-71. During his tenure, he helped organize the ABCA and coached the U.S. team in the 1959 Pan American Games.

Anderson was inducted into the ABCA Hall of Fame in 1969.

Named after the great Lefty Gomez, this annual award is presented to an individual who has distinguished himself among his peers and has contributed significantly to the game of baseball locally, nationally and internationally. The Lefty Gomez Award is sponsored by Wilson Sporting Goods.
