Andy Cohen spent nearly a decade on major and minor league rosters and later served as a manager and coach before returning to the Sun City. He was instrumental in building the baseball program at Texas Western College (now UTEP) from the ground up, serving as head coach from 1963-78.
Cohen served as the Miners' unpaid coach for the first 12 years of the program's history compiling 300 wins.
He is a member of both the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame and the El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame. Cohen Stadium was named in honor of Andy and Syd Cohen.
